The goo I speak of appears as a sticky, transparent film over everything. It gets closer to translucent when dust and dirt find it. Although I don't know the true source, it must be airborne, as opposed to dripping down (the cabover would mask the windshield) or direct deposit by insects (it would start off spotty). We also get bee goo, which does appear as direct hits (yellow spots), but not on the windshield of the LD. This stuff quickly hardens and is tenacious.

Many trees drop goo. It is sometimes caused by insect infestation. I had an elm tree that did this almost year-long. It destroyed the paint on my wife's car.I live in the same area as you and my vehicles get dusty, not gooey. Take a look at your immediate environment. Check the trees.
I'm amazed how well the base white paint has held up with all the junk in the air.I only wish the beautifull orange stripes has weathered as well.
