A questions for those of you that tow a toad:

1. What kind of a hitch do you have? My 26.5MB

has a ball hitch, but it looks like it may be  too  high if the bar has to be horizontal. Is it  better  to install a load-leveling hitch?  
2. What  kind/brand of brackets/towbar do you use?  Car mount or  motorhome mount? Is it really  necessary to get one of  the fancy towbars at  $300-$500, or will a cheaper  one work?  
3. What cars do you tow, and how
 much do they weigh? I'm thinking about towing a 1991 Honda Accord (just under 3,000 lbs). Anybody towing a similar car now?

I have a '98 30' with receiver hitch sold by LD.
I use the Aladdin tow bar by Blue Ox, and tow a '99 Saturn SW2 (about 2500 lbs.). The bar stays on the coach, and the base plate system is the neatest I've seen. To date I've put 37000 on the coach, about 20000 towing, and I love this combination.

Will a cheaper bar work- likely so. Personally, I think that buying good stuff is pretty cheap insurance, however.
The Saturn tows like a dream, hardly know it's there.

re: 1. The Lazy Daze has an option for a hitch receiver. The receiver bar and ball needs to be matched with the particular type of towing setup you plan to use. For towing a car, the offset in the receiver ball should be such that it results in thje towing bars being essentially level when connected to the attachment fixture on the car being towed.

Suggest you look at a public library for Motorhome or Trailer Life magazines, as they both run tests and have yearly articles on tests of tow bars and cars that are towable 4 wheels down. For example, the King Co Library system has these magazines - Bellevue branch has the Trailer Life mags on their shelves - perhaps Snohomish Co. Library system has them also. I really think you need more than can be expressed on this bbs to determine what is best for you.

re 2: Please don't even think about using one of those car mounted tow bars that permanently fasten to the car bracket and are stowed in the vertical position in front of the grill. My opinion is that they are unsafe.
