Andy & other moderators July 18, 2003, 12:46:08 pm Yahoo Message Number: 24672Hey Andy, congratulations on the prestigious job you've agreed to take on - I'm sure it'll add a lot to your resume. Joking aside - what a nice addition! I think that I know that Steve and Kathi are moderators, but who else, and pardon my ignorance, but what all is it that moderators do, and probably more importantly, what do you not do?Thanks to all of you for supporting this great e-list,Sarah and Mz. Within the limiting structure of 'Yahoo groups', moderators have editing privileges for the group. We can delete members, messages, entries in the various sections of a group, and edit group characteristics. In theory, the group could be set up so all incoming messages are first approved by moderators - this can be necessary for heavily spammed groups to make them usable, but it would also be a full-time job for someone. Thankfully, the worst problems our group must deal with regularly are overfilled file cabinets, and how to cope with Yahoo!...Steve

I've often thought that when you "Moderators" speak as a Moderator, it would be helpful if you identified yourselves as such, in contrast to your participation with us in your non-official capacity.
