My friends trucks, like most delivry trucks, always have varying load weights. At this time of year since they deliver food to diners, restaurants, etc they can typically leave overloaded until they make their first delivery or so. (People eat out in summer far more than any other season of the year) Not that they like to overload them but they sometimes have little choice. I can tell you from having worked for them while in and just out of high school that in summer they almost always left the yard overloaded and they also often sent out some overflow deliveries on a standard Econoline van. That's when I first drove one, making some of those overflow deliveries and small ones to local nursing homes and other smaller customer orders. Originally they bought their first box van as an overflow delivery vehicle to replace the old Econoline van but they found that they were well suited for their smaller load routes especially those that were not only smaller load wise but also covered a lot of miles either between stops or in total for the route. During other times of the year they may go out only half loaded. The loads always lighten throughout the day as they make their deliveries and only rarely do they make any pick-ups of goods to bring back to the warehouse. I can tell you that their trucks also aren't always treated very well by their drivers either!Hope that answers your questions!Mike R.
