Thinking of buying a LD but............ July 15, 2003, 09:16:52 pm Yahoo Message Number: 24556when I read on their website that they only have a ONE year warranty and no dealerships, this sounded a little scary. Is this true? Is this a potential problem for someone like me who lives on the east coast??? Thanks for any honest inputs!

Is this true?"It's true they have no dealers and sell only factory direct cutting out a 30-35% profit margin to dealers that will often knock 15-20% off the "suggested resale" to close a deal IF you're a good negotiator. They still make a 15% profit margin! This means you get the discount not the dealer. If you look at comparable high quality motorhomes most others cost far more, at least $15k more. They do have a one-year warranty covering everything but a lifetime warranty on the coach to the original owner. That's the only thing any RV manufacturer really makes and NO other company offers that! All sub- systems or appliances carry manufacturer warranties, like with all brands. Some are 90 day but many big-ticket items are 3yr like the AC (which is standard not an option meaning it is figured into the CCC calculation unlike any brand that it's an option), refrigerator, etc."Is this a potential problem for someone like me who lives on the east coast???" Not at all! I live on the east coast, as do many others and the thing you need to realize is that LDs don't have the "usual problems" that plague the RV industry because they pay attention to detail and things are made correct from the start. Most problems people do end up having are very minor and typically involve an appliance or sub- system that can be repaired locally in warranty by a manufacturer authorized service center. You won't have the "usual problems" because they don't have the Microsoft or typical RV manufacturer mentality or philosophy of get the product out to market and fix the bugs later! Search the archives in the group and you'll see several other similar threads asking similar questions and the replies. Both times I brought my LD in to get annual maintenance the RV repair center comments about how well they are made and the attention to detail they have. The tech that works on it always asks about it and says they've never seen any Class C as well made with such quality workmanship and attention to detail. When they ask how much it cost they're amazed at how low the price is and typically guess it was over $100k! At the Ford dealership that worked on it that has a separate RV group was also amazed with it and all the techs and the RV service manager wanted more info on them again saying they never saw such a well made motorhome on a Ford chassis! Both places thought they'd seen all Class C brands but never saw one that was so well put together.Mike R. 2001 Teal 26.5MB St Cloud, FlPS: If it where like most other brands there's NO WAY we would have bought one from a Ca factory direct mfg! But it isn't like anything else we've seen and I know we looked at them all before we ordered it and even since.

Our response to your concerns are exactly as those stated in message 24563 including the comments about the quality from the people who does our front end alignment, the state inspections garage and our local RV dealer that represents and inspects our Dometic appliances. If something does go wrong with the coach just contact Lazy Daze and they will authorize a local service facilities to do the work. In our opinion buying from Lazy Daze and living in the east is a non-issue.Larry and Betty
