Forrester or CRV toad? July 09, 2003, 03:59:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 24332We want our next car purchase to be a compatible toad (and we don't even have a LD yet) Does anyone have any experience towing a turbo Forrester? It has a great sun roof. I believe it would need to be a stick shift. We are also think about the Honda CRV. Does anyone have any experience regarding either of these car's tow handling and/or reliability? Thanks Sharon

It is the manual model....I don't think the turbo(not avail in 2001) would have made any difference. We have towed over 10K miles without any problems. We traveled the first year without the toad and enjoy having it along. I can't compare it with the Forrester, but can recommend it.Chris H.
Forrester or CRV toad? Reply #4 – July 09, 2003, 04:36:49 pm Yahoo Message Number: 24334Sharon, Either vehicle can be towed just fine. The Subie (yes, it must be a stick) is a about 200 lbs lighter, has more HP and can tow more. The CR-V has more ground clearance and slightly more cargo space. Both are very reliable vehicles. I don't think you could go wrong with either vehicle. It would be a matter of preference which one to go with. When I was looking at what vehicle I wanted to buy for a toad, my last 2 choices came down to the CR-V and the Subaru WRX wagon. For my kind of likes/dislikes, the WRX is the clear choice for me. So sometime early next year, I hope to be buying one.I would suggest you drive both on the same day to get an idea which one you like best. I highly recommend you read the following site first: http://carbuyingtips.com It is the most comprehensive guide I have found on how to buy a car. I used to be a car salesman during a dark period of my life, and this site covers all the tricks I was ever taught along with ones I never heard of. Reading this site could save you hundreds of dollars, maybe thousands. Make sure you read all the chapters. For help on getting info on particular vehicles, I like these two sites: http://auto.consumerguide.com/ http://edmunds.com/Good luck,-Victor
