A Desert Bar and canyons March 21, 2003, 09:42:04 am Yahoo Message Number: 20078I just left Arizona with all her wild flowers blazing in the desert, thanks to all the rain of the past few weeks. Took zillions of digital pictures - need to learn how to put them on a web page. Recent experiences included finding a really remote desert bar that has no signs and no s, but is enormously popular. About 5 miles north of Parker, AZ, then 5 miles of wash-board gravel/dirt road (don't take your LD there - it's a 'toad' road). Ken only has it open a couple of days a week - it's all open air, and has a great live band for dancing on Fridays and Saturdays. ~ 34.21N, 114.25 W; Cienaga Springs Road. It's just too kooky to describe, but fun. A 5 mile hike through some beautiful, steep ribboned (and in some places wet) gorges, over hill, dale, boulders - along the Colorado River, south of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Lake Havasu really looks for all the world like a plastic tourist trap, and if you don't get out and hike, camp on BLM, or something like that, plastic it will be. Boondocking opens up all kinds of new worlds.More later - I'm heading into CaliforniaSarah, Mz. Daisy, and the Toad

One full-facility camp and unlimited boondocks (no reservations this year). Town of Borrego Springs is completely surrounded by the park.Of course you will probably have to tolerate some more of those deserts blooms (-:Sherry and I will be there in a week or so -- we're heading east.John
