i have a 1988 LD. On the fire wall is what looks like some sort of insulater that runs from the battery to the Isulator for the house battery. The unit has come apart and I need a new one. I don't know what this is called can any one help.

Tim,

If it has 3 terminals, it would be a BATTERY ISOLATOR.  The generator/alternator would be attached to the middle terminal and would charge both house and truck batteries.  The isolator prevents the use of one battery from discharging the other battery.

thanks alex, the battery isolator is on the grill side under the hood. this little unit is on the firewall side. the positive of the battery goes to a junction then to this unit. the other side of this unit then goes to the big blue isolator. Its small about 1 and 1/2 inches long.

thanks, Tim
