January 16, 2001, 07:37:25 pm Yahoo Message Number: 1618I just received the RVCG Deal Data sheet for the 2001 LD 30IB which rates the payload of the rig at "cautionary" but is 1,272 lb available for persons and supplies to quote the document. I received the pdf file today. We are considering the 30 ft model.
LD 30 ft - weight limit ? Reply #1 – January 17, 2001, 07:05:14 am Yahoo Message Number: 1627According to the specification page on the Lazy Daze web site: The available payload for supplies is 774lbs, when motorhome is fully loaded with: Fresh water, propane, gas, generator, maximumpassengers based upon the total seat belts that are provided being occupied.I personally called Ed Newton, one of the owners at Lazy Daze, and he advised me that the maximum # of seat belted persons is 5 and that they used a figure of 150 lbs. per person. Using that info the figure I get for persons and supplies is 774 plus 750 to equal a total payload of 1524 lbs. Either the Lazy Daze folks aren't telling us the "facts" or RVCG isn't calculating correctly or is applying different variables in their calculations....I would challenge the Deal Data sheets accuracy as I understand RVCG bases their analysis on the figures provided by the mfg. and not on any independent weighing that they do.Tom

Deal Data sheets are available for $7 each, I believe. I just joined and got the RV Rating Book with my membership. Their Web site is www.rv.org. You can ask them to send you Deal Data sheets as downloadable pdf files.I believe everyone with an RV or planning to buy one should be a member and become active in RVCG; we plan to. They are the ones that led me to LD because of their objective Ratings Book. We will tour the LD factory next month and hopefully purchase our first motorhome there.

That RVCG Ratings Guide was very educational. We thought we wanted a Class A, or a motorhome with a slide out and hadn't put a premium on saftey and handling ease because we just didn't know any better. We were listening to salesmen and reading all of the ads until we saw some of the objective opinions of a good consumer group. Join RVCG at www.rv.org!Kent
