2007 E-450 rear axle?
Is the rear axle a full floating rear axle?  Am I correct in believing the rear wheel bearings are lubricated from the differential.

You are correct. In a full-floating axle, all the weight is carried by the hub. The axle shaft carries no weight, just the driving force.  The bearings are lubricated by the differential fluid.

Thanks Larry.  The person I spoke to was not the mechanic. But someone accustom to cars not heavy trucks.  Before your reply I could never remember packing bearing on a Ford truck. (My dad had a couple campers, all had a floating rear axle). I was hoping you would see my note.  We are doing brakes pads and disks front and rear. Calipers rear and packing the bearings front with a fluid flush. Getting ready for the trip east.

While the brakes are being done, have the mechanic check the pre-load on the rear hub bearings if it has never been checked before.
It requires a special socket to loosen and tighten the tapered roller bearings. Tapered roller bearings require a specified pre-load to function properly.

They did the preload. Thanks for asking. I looked it up on YouTube. The shop described the same process and tool.

G'day John.
I rode by Xpert auto the other day on my motorcycle and saw a green LD up on the rack.
I suppose that is yours. Hope the service goes well.

Yes, it was my daughter's RV (formally mine) you saw.  Next fix is the step replacement.  There is a mobile outfit that will come to the storage site, Precision RV, to do the repair.  The stops on the electric motor have stopped working properly.  She has been lucky over the last three years in that she has only needed to replace the oil and filters.  Once the step is done the wife and I are going to spring to have it washed and waxed.   She lived in Salt Lake City for a couple years doing a post doc.  She was constantly going out to local parks and just before going east hit several National Parks.  The problem with the brakes was a frozen caliper.
I am very happy with the work done by Xpert.
