oven seal
My rubber seal in the oven has come loose and I was wondering if anyone could recommend the correct sealant to use.

Hi Pat;  Welcome to the Lazy Daze Owners group.  After 22 years of this group, I think you are the first to ever have trouble with your oven seal. The under whelming response to your question pretty much means that no one knows for sure what to use.  I would use the silicone high temperature goo  used to seal valve cover gaskets on car engines.  Definitely high temperature enough for an oven door gasket. Hopefully it won't outgas anything toxic. You might want to get it hot for awhile after it has cured, before putting any food nearby.  This comes in clear or black.  Visbella Silicone Oven Glass Door Gasket Seal High Temperature Heat Resistant...   Good luck!   RonB

I just did a web search for 'oven door gasket'. I got a page of high-temperature gasket tapes, including this page on Amazon:

Amazon.com : oven door gasket

I wouldn't use a liquid sealant like RTV (Visbella) on an oven door, because It would be difficult to get a level seal without gluing the door closed. The Visbella sealant that Ron mentioned is intended for mounting the glass window in an oven door, not for sealing the door itself. Tape gaskets like the ones linked above are made specifically for that purpose, so that's the way I'd go.

Hi Andy;  That Visbella goo was intended to fix the present gasket back in place, not to replace the gasket.   Pat had said that his gasket had just 'come loose'.  RonB

Oh, sorry, Ron--I get it now. Yes, it would probably work for that.
