Starlink Placement in Mid-Bath Suggestions
I recently purchased a Standard Starlink.  I am having someone help me put it together in my 2017 Mid-Bath.    We are trying to figure out where to run the cable and place the router and power supply unit.  What have others done?  Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

I recommend not permanently mounting a Starlink on the LD. Trees block the signal, and it often needs to be placed far away to get a clear view of the sky. We sometimes use most of a 150' cord. Some campgrounds have too many trees to have a strong signal even with a long cord. Coverage is slowly getting better as more satellites are launched.

For when there is a clear view of the sky from the campsite, many times we use a Starlink (Gen 2) adaptor mounted on top of our cell antenna's telescoping pole. The pole is attached to the rear ladder.

Thank you so much Larry.  The person helping me is trying to figure out where to place the router and power supply unit.  He is suggesting mounting them inside the Mid-Bath behind the passenger seat and putting a hole through the cabinet below the refrigerator and putting the cable through to the battery compartment.  Not sure this is such a good idea.  Where do you or others have the router and power supply unit?

It's not really ideal, but I run the cable through the left rear window- i leave it open  crack so the cable can run through it, and fill in the gap with a pool noodle sliced all the way down.
I've taken out the left side couch and built a desk there, s the modem sits on the desk.

I agree with Larry.  I’ve had StarLink since May 2022 for my TK, have never mounted it, still run the cable into an open window, depending on which direction the open sky is.    Sometimes the right location is actually on the roof near the ladder, others I have switched to the 150’ cable to head out through the trees to a rocky beach.   95% of the time, the standard 75’ cable is enough.

I’ve been on the road up to Alaska and across to Newfoundland over the 18 months StarLink usage, didn’t need to mount it, nor do I see a need to do so.

If it’s a buggy location, I use wide blue painters tape to seal the window gap.

I have searched and failed to find a 10'-15' Starlink extension cord with molded ends that would be run from the interior to an exterior access point, such as the refrigerator compartment, sealed and left in place.
I'm not thrilled that a window needs to be left unlocked to provide cable access.

Monica,

we have the router and power supply mounted on the wall behind the passenger seat as someone has suggested to you. The cable to the dish goes down through one of the seat belt holes and then outside the motorhome through a little notch in the compartment door.  Our handyman built a sliding tray that holds the cable. We also carry a 150 ft cable but have not needed it yet.

If you mount the router and power supply like we did, make sure the little tab for the power supply points to the left like ours does. This allows you to slide the power supply in and out of the bracket.

Nice clean job, Bill. Love the slide-out tray idea.

Lots of room behind both the pax and driver's seat. I mounted my dc-dc charger behind the driver's seat and routed it into the battery compartment. I'm attaching a photo of that area with the driver's seat out to illustrate how easy the access is when that seat is gone.

One nice thing about Starlink Mini is that there's no separate router--it's all in the 11" x 12" antenna panel. Just run a power cable to it, and you're in business. It's unfortunate that the Mini's cost is so much higher than that of the Standard model, because for RVing, the Mini has several advantages. (Using half as much power is another.)

Thank you all very much for your responses to my Starlink placement.  I really regret that I didn't get the Mini instead of the Standard Star Link.  It is too late for me to return it.  I guess I didn't do my homework well because I thought the Standard used less power.  Bill M., that is an amazing job you did with the placement behind the driver's seat.  I have some questions:  where do you plug the cord in the inside?  Did you put a hole in the battery compartment door for the cord?  How did you get the cord through the door?

From a suggestion on one of the Facebook LD pages we mounted our Mini in our shower skylight. We run it as we drive and have had great coverage. It is removable in case we are parked under trees. Then we plug it in the fridge compartment and set up as needed in a clear space.

Monica,

I mounted it behind the passenger seat. The power cord goes up to the outlet over the dinette table. The cable to the dish runs behind the back of the cushion and through one of the seat belt holes into the compartment under the long dinette seat. The cable is stored on sliding tray in the compartment directly behind the passenger door. My picture shows a small notch cut in that compartment's door.

These are the wall brackets I used for the router and power supply.
