Level Best Kwikee System October 21, 2024, 01:57:01 pm I have a Level Best Kwikee hydraulic leveling system. I think the control panel has failed on me. There was a popping sound and now no lights or any function. There seems to be power coming to the control as I can get a 12.5 volt reading on the red wire coming into the 4-way connector. Does anyone know if it is possible to get another control? And is there a way to retract the two jacks that are down without risk of life threading injuries from high pressure hydraulic fluid?
Re: Level Best Kwikee System Reply #1 – October 21, 2024, 03:59:07 pm Kwiikee left the hydraulic lift business many years ago, and finding parts is next to impossible. Many here have removed their old Kwikee systems and sold the parts to those needing them. It has been over ten years since I last saw a control box for sale.A ram that does not retract can be lifted by loosening the hydraulic lines until fluid comes out, pushing the ram up, and then tying it up in position with wire or zip ties. Expect a bit of fluid to come out; have a drain pan handy to catch the fluid.Ensure you are not in a position to get crushed when the ram retracts.Larry 1 Likes
Re: Level Best Kwikee System Reply #2 – October 21, 2024, 04:46:09 pm Hi atallthinman; and welcome to the Forum of all things Lazy Daze. Without the pump running, the only high pressure fluid, is that forced out by the weight of the motorhome as it tries to collapse the rams holding the motorhome up. Not that high a pressure, and not all that dangerous. The dangerous stuff is backhoe, bulldozer and thrill ride pressure cylinders. Sometimes there you can get nearly invisible leaks that you might get a hand in the way of. I'm more concerned with high pressure 'airless' paint sprayers. It will be messy as you release pressure by undoing a fitting. Just crack it open. Push the ram into the folded up position and retighten the fitting. Wire the jack in position, so it doesn't fall down into the roadway while you are traveling. You can put the fluid, if is clean, back in the reservoir. (or recycle it) RonB
Re: Level Best Kwikee System Reply #3 – October 21, 2024, 06:17:10 pm Thank you Larry and RonB for your replies. I may have to do that to the hydraulic lines to get the jacks up. I just learned that there should be a bypass wire assembly attached to the wiring harness about 12” behind the control panel (but mine is missing) that would retract the jacks in case of control failure. At least it seems that was on Winnebago level best systems. Wish I had that.

It looks like there is a hydraulic line at top and the bottom of the jack cylinder. Does it matter which one is loosened? One upper line supplies pressure to extend the jack, the lower line is used to retract the ram.Loosen both lines and then push the ram up. It is a simple but dirty way of retracting the ram, have done it several times. If you still want hydraulic levelers, remove the old system and install a new HWH or Bigfoot system. Both companies have been around for years and should have repair parts for the foreseeable future.Kwikee systems had all sorts of issues and many of the parts were unique to their systems, you may be able to sell the usable parts, many here have done that. For our usage, leveling ramps and Linx blocks work well. https://www.amazon.com/Tri-Lynx-00015-Lynx-Levelers-Pack/dp/B0028PJ10K/ref=asc_df_B0028PJ10K?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80745437134438&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584345029089694&psc=1Larry As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.

I've also never had to use it!But, if your control panel is still functional, there is a re-set routine that might save your bacon, it's saved mine on numerous occasions. Here's how, remove the panel from where it's mounted and disconnect the right hand wire connecter. Wait 10-15 seconds, reconnect and check to see if it works! Wishing you luck.
