17 years ago today. September 27, 2024, 10:32:15 am 17 years ago today I bought a one way airline ticket to Houston.I was met at the airport by the folks that were going to sell me their Lazy Daze RV.They were an older couple, Will and Martha, now 78 and were the original owners. They took me out to a nice lunch and then we went to the RV shop they had used to have anything done while they owned it.At the shop, the Lazy Daze was outside with the generator running and the roof A/C blowing cold air.I talked with the shop owner and he told me they took immaculate care of the rig and always fixed anything that needed it.I drove it about 20 miles to their home and it drove very nicely and was very clean inside and out.At their home, we went over the entire RV and they explained things to me and showed me all the things that would come with it.Quite a lot of nice stuff, including a Travasak bedding system that was very nice. They invited me to stay with them overnight and made me an excellent dinner. We talked late into the night about all kinds of things. In the morning, we went to their bank where I wired the $17,000 they wanted for the rig. After the wire went through they had the title notarized and transferred over to me.I hit the road around noon, got on I-10 headed west. I made it almost to El Paso before stopping for my first night at a rest area.Needed a transmission less than a year later at 91,000 miles. Bought it with 86,000 miles.Put a new fridge in in 2018 and a new water heater in 2020.I've been living in it from day one and have added some things to help with my boondocking, nomadic lifestyle.Solar and inverter, updated converter and a few other things.I've only paid to stay two times, for a total of five nights and cost of $68, both at Death Valley for motorcycle ralliesOverall, I think it's one of the best financial decisions I've made. 24 Likes
