Floor Square Footage
I think I'll get rid of the OEM linoleum and put in some vinyl planks. Two questions for those of you that have done it:
1. What is the square footage (27' MB)?
2. What did you use for a transition where the tile meets the cab carpet?

Make that three questions. What vinyl tile did you use?
Thanks.

Susie, I was all set to rip out all the linoleum but now I'm thinking of going with Luxury Vinyl Plank. In that it has a underlayment attached to the planks, I think I will just remove the vinyl trim and leave the linoleum in place. I'll just have to get a piece of linoleum to lay in the back room as it had carpet. I'm hoping that trim won't be too bad to pull out of there. Might change my mind though. Lots of choices for sure!

    Jor,
We installed vinyl plank flooring from Lowes around the fall of 2020 in our 98~MB.  We pulled up all of the carpet to the back side of the bathroom but left the carpet in the back lounge.  We left the parkquet wood flooring in the kitchen and went right over it.  We used smartcore underlayment which has a foil side with infrared reflection.  We used a metal strip at each end of the new plank flooring for transition to carpet.  I do not remember how much square footage of flooring we bought but we got an extra box for insurance in-case we have to replace any of the planks.  We bought wood molding and painted it gray to match the flooring.  We had bought Bruce plank flooring at Home Depot many years ago for our Itasca which had molding that matched, and did not require painting.  We went with Lowes this time since they had everything in stock.

Thanks, K&L. I decided to go with VCT tile instead of plank. It was a close call. Could I ask you to post a photo of where your tile meets the cab carpet? Very nice job by the way!!!!

Thanks for the photo, K&L. I'm trying to decide where to join the tile to the carpet. I think I will just line it up with the factory cab carpet but I'm thinking about pushing it more into the cab.

   Jor,
The place I chose for that transition from LVP to cab carpet made sense with lining up with the end of the refrigerator wall box.  You could take it to behind the seats but your model 09 is way different then the 98 in MBs.  You have more space for your seats etc.  You could lay pieces of VCT out and see how it looks before you cut the carpet?  Are you using a floating click type of flooring?  The VLP we used is floating and click installation.  In our 98 we have a curtain to separate the front cab from the kitchen and it falls right on the transition between the LVT and cab carpet, so that spot we chose worked out great.

Are you using a floating click type of flooring?

I'm using vinyl composition tile (VCT) because it's the only type offering the color I wanted - red. The stuff is not recommended over OSB so I am laying down a 1/4" plywood underlayment. I've got it aligned with the original cab carpet now but I will do as you suggest when the tile arrives and finalize the starting point. Thanks.

Another choice for anyone changing from the factory linoleum to tile is Karndean Loose Lay. No glue and no trim. It's designed for a tight fit wall to wall. I installed it in two rigs and was very pleased with it. A nice soft feel on the feet. It's pricey but it's a great product. Here's a couple photos of it in an SOB. The last two show the thickness and back side.
