SoftStartRV Install
It only took me a year and a half to install the SoftStart unit I purchased.  :-[   It seems to be working but I have a couple questions for those that have done this install:  Where did you mount the actual unit?  The roomiest place is next to the compressor so I'm thinking there. Also, if you look at the attached photos, my wiring run is not ideal.  Should I try and redo the wiring?

That location will work fine, the SoftStart has double sided tape to glue it into position.

You might consider wrapping your wires in wire loom and route them where they can't rub.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a waterproof putty for sealing electrical boxes- something that stays pliable?

Went up this morning and cleaned up the wiring. I feel much better about it now! Job complete.
