Caulk question April 09, 2024, 01:41:10 pm New owner of a 2011 27RK. I was wondering if folks use the 3M5200 around your storage and outside shower doors? Thanks, TonyTipton, MI
Re: Caulk question Reply #1 – April 09, 2024, 04:39:06 pm Hi Tony; Welcome to The Lazy Daze Owners Group, (LDOG)! #M5200 is really ! permanent, and a bit hard to deal with. I use a 'pretty good' siliconized acrylic for minor jobs. Easy to work with water cleanup etc. Dynaflex 230: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-DYNAFLEX-Ultra-10-1-oz-White-Advanced-Exterior-Window-Door-and-Siding-Sealant-18211/302949855?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&utm_source=google&utm_medium=vantage&utm_campaign=24088&utm_content=25750&mtc=SHOPPING-RM-RMP-GGL-D24-Multi-MB-DAP-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-MK862659001-24088-NBR-3409-NA-VNT-FY24_Q1-Q4_DAPProductsInc.-SILVER_D24_RM%2B_ES_AON&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-RM-RMP-GGL-D24-Multi-MB-DAP-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-MK862659001-24088-NBR-3409-NA-VNT-FY24_Q1-Q4_DAPProductsInc.-SILVER_D24_RM%2B_ES_AON-71700000117627160--&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwztOwBhD7ARIsAPDKnkCBXTY5KHwwrHDGT8EDJSGyQfPgJ-m2c6a6kdNDrI9JHB2tkLJU9rkaAqIHEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds The Ultra I haven't used yet. The 5200 FC fast cure is good, but requires more care to use, and is very permanent. I used it on my roof seams along with Eternabond. RonB 3 Likes
Re: Caulk question Reply #2 – April 09, 2024, 04:41:52 pm Hi,Those surface cracks are fairly common and don’t necessarily pose a water intrusion problem from what I understand. Our ‘15 LD RB has these on many seams of the aluminum skin. I had purchased some touch up paint from the factory a few years ago and never used it. Rather than use a sealant on your cracks, it may be advisable to clean the areas with acetone and paint the cracks with the like colored paint. Our rig is gray and white as well. So if I were to paint them, I would need both colors. I believe the white paint is the identical paint as the Ford body paint which should be noted inside the cab door jam. This cracking issue has been discussed in the past and it appears to be less of a leaking issue than originally thought. The side panels of the coach body are folded within themselves so the wood frame is safe from rot. That being said sealing those cracks would not be a horrible idea. Just be aware that as the rig goes down the road, there is considerable flex in the coach body and the cracks may reappear over time.Others here may have more to offer on this topic. All the best with your new Lazy Daze. They are certainly a fantastic rig. We’ve had ours since the factory built it and we drove it off the lot in 2015.Kent 1 Likes

Re: Caulk question Reply #5 – April 10, 2024, 11:12:57 am The white paint goes by Oxford White at my local Ford dealership. For some reason, they don't seem to stock the grays. 1 Likes
