Water coming from the heat pump
While prepping for our Thanksgiving week trip to North Carolina 'Villa Verde' was sitting level
outside of our garage (house) for several cool days.  We kept the heat pump running (fan constantly on) during that time including one day we received 3" of rain (first rain in 1-1/2 months). The day before we were to leave I turned off the unit and water immediately started heavily dripping water out of the ceiling shroud. It quit as soon as I started the fan again. I then got a pail to catch the water when the fan was turned off.  Shortly thereafter the unit will not turn on at all with no thermostat display light. The AC breaker was not tripped so something within the unit disabled the power. The two condenser pan drains on the roof were unobstructed and those tubes point straight down to the roof surface preventing dirt blocking them.  Fortunately, we had a good space heater and a full propane tank for heating while in NC last week and we didn't really need the heat pump. We also hang a fitted blanket between the cab and the coach interior for better insulation. The roof vents have snap on covers too.

Anyone have any questions what happened?

Hi Mike; Heat pumps suck heat out of outside air to warm air inside the coach. I can only suspect that some ice had built up on the outside coils and formed an ice dam blockage to the drains. A high enough puddle of water could have damaged some wiring along the way. The A/C doesn't have GFCI protection. It is more likely wet corrosion inside a wirenut, or something easy. Heat pumps I've seen have a freeze detector that shuts off the compressor if either set of coils get too cold.  RonB.

Ron, Thanks for your response. I doubt if’s it’s ice buildup because the outside Florida air during that time period was in the mid 60’s to the high 50’s. The fan kept running even when the compressor was off.  I suspect possibly a leak around the outside gasket that the unit sits on. When I have time I’ll check the wiring up top and inside the unit.  Tomorrow I will be seeing why the sewer hose won’t go back into the storage tube which could be crimped.  It’s in a very tight pathway.
