Faux window repair
Has anybody repaired the black faux windows on the front of the overhead cab?
There is a small crack on one of my 2006 mid bath.
Is it hollow underneath the black painted faux window because it sounds hollow when I tap it.
My desire was to lightly grind it out with a dremel tool, and then do a gelcoat repair but I’m nervous about how thick the faux window is and what’s underneath it.
Any thoughts from anyone that has any knowledge of this issue?

Hi Jack. My suspicion is a bubble in the original 'layup of the gel coat. Normally it should be about 1/4"thick.   I would dig it out to see how bad it is. It should be easy to fill with Bondo.  Sand it flat and smooth, then paint it black. Towards the centerline of the coach there is about four-six inches of insulation behind it. Less near the sides. It should sound hollow. There is a framework of wood and a flat wall inside.  My year has drapes to cover the fact that there are no windows.  RonB

Good information and I thank you, Ron.
Time to get the Dremel tool out.
