Ford "service"
Excuse me while I vent here a little but our 2021 LD has been waiting on a part since April of 2022.

So many of my calls to Kearny Mesa Ford go to voicemail where I leave a message for them to call me and they never do.

I even tagged Ford Motor Company in Twitter and finally got a response Monday. They said they had a case number and they sent that to me and that someone would be in touch with me in one business day. Well that was Monday and I still haven't heard anything.

Makes me think twice about ever purchasing a Ford product.

Hi Ted;  So which part are you waiting for?  Is this a warranty repair?  Obviously not too important, or are you unable to use your motorhome?  You need to progress up the management chain, and as they say, 'the squeaky' wheel gets the grease'.  RonB

Hi Ron, it's a modem module I am told. I can still run the RV. What's not happening though is I cannot look for vehicle information on the Ford Pass app because the module is defective.
This is under warranty so they need to fix it, it's a pretty major job to replace it.

Hi Ted;  Definitely a labor issue.  How does this module access the internet, by a phone connection?  Does it have it's own antenna and could it have been covered or altered by the Lazy Daze living quarters?  Do other owners of 2019 or newer have similar problems with this module?   RonB

That stinks!  I waited 6 months for a part from Chevy on a Trailblazer.   So problems still exist for parts on any vehicle.

Not exactly. Tesla seems to have parts at the ready. I’ve never had an issue with the couple times I needed a part.
I have a 2013 Ford Flex and 2008 LD. After seeing how terrible service has been for my mom with her Ford Maverick I am for sure done with Ford and the dealership model in general.

Maybe Tesla can get a RV done down the pipeline. They seem to have things figured out pretty well while Ford loses 3.4 billion.  :o

Have the same fancy features on my 2017 Ford Fusion, there is a cell modem that allows you to communicate with your vehicle, in the case of my car, roll down windows, start the car, lock it remotely, via FordPass.   Doesn’t need a carrier contact.

Every Ford dealer I have dealt with regarding my LD has been less than helpful, quite different than the service I would get on my Fusion.

I bought a Tesla with the funds from selling my LD last year and have a similar experience: great customer service on the Tesla and terrible service from the local Ford fleet service center who eventually stopped working on all Ford based RVs. It was one of the reasons for selling the LD actually.

All,
If it makes you feel better,
I am having the same delivery and promise problems with Liebherr, Sennebogen, Hyster, and Hyundai Heavy equipment.  Same
with Quincy, Ingersoll Rand Air Compressors.  Mc Master Carr is flat out cancelling your order if they cannot supply in a reasonable time.

I'm old enough to remember when the American car makers were not very reliable or quality made.   There was a saying about any product that after you brought it and had to have it worked on after the fact "its like a new car".  Then came the Japan-made cars.   They eat Detroits lunch.  Fast forward to today.    Seem Detroit is needing to re-learn the lessons of old.

My son’s Ford Escape would not shift into park.  Had it towed to Ford dealer.  Found out there was a recall for that issue.   Dealer had the part in one day and fixed it second day. So not all is bad with Ford.

Ted, I had the same module go bad.  It was diagnosed in Jan 22 by Truck City Ford in Buda, TX.  The part was on back order  and I was snowbirding then so I decided to take it to my home dealership near Detroit.  That dealership claimed the modem wasn't where it was supposed to be, thus it didn't have a modem and was impossible to fix it because it wasn't there!  Even though it had worked for 10 months prior, I couldn't convince them it was there. They said they discussed it with Ford tech support and they agreed on the no modem.  I have a sneaking suspicion that they were using F450 guides instead instead of E450

I called Truck City the next January 2023 when I knew I would be back and had them order the part in preparation for my arrival. I got a service writer's name and number and called him once a week to see if it had come in.  Finally arrived the middle of April.

Funny part was the Truck City service tech, when installing the modem, called Ford tech support to verify one of the settings on the modem and he was also told my rig didn't have a modem when he was physically looking at it!

Way to tackle the issue.    It seems today with all the experience out the door and new technology nobody can fix things.  We have to keep on them and do our own due diligence.

My 2021 Chevy Trailblazer had a bad sensor.  I waited 5 months for the part.  Finally I submitted a lemon law claim in Michigan.  I got a full refund of the MSRP from the Trailblazer and used that to purchase a new Colorado.  So I got to use the vehicle for 2 years plus a free rental for 5 months.  Now I have a toad for a future LD purchase (I will have to upgrade the hitch though)!!
