Trying to get help from a dealership April 18, 2023, 11:10:18 pm I live in the north coastal San Diego area. I'm having a heck of a time with Kearny Mesa Ford for my 2021 lazy daze.I've been waiting over a year for a modem replacement and they just don't seem to to be able to get the part. I call and they don't call me back. Horrible customer service. Not every Ford dealership can handle motorhomes. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm just worn out trying to get service from them.

Re: Trying to get help from a dealership Reply #2 – April 19, 2023, 08:09:56 am Try the phone number for ford motor home service issues. If you have a service concern, call the Motorhome. Re: Trying to get help from a dealership Reply #3 – April 19, 2023, 09:17:41 am I’ve had similarly poor responses from the Ford dealers within 100 or so miles of Santa Barbara. Recently, I decided to change my differential gear oil and replace my brake fluid myself when the Ford dealers in Santa Barbara, Buellton, Arroyo Grande and Oxnard said that they either no longer service motorhomes or to call back in a few months because they are overwhelmed with service requests. I have had good luck with the Rush Truck Center in Whittier, if you’re willing to drive. And I believe that there is an earlier thread naming dealers in Los Angeles metropolitan area that do good work.Warren 1 Likes

Re: Trying to get help from a dealership Reply #5 – April 19, 2023, 10:31:53 am I had good results calling 1800 number Richard shared. Rep even called few dealers to get an appointment.Other option which is kind of last resort is google review. I wrote a pretty bad review when I was not getting an appointment last year for recall. I ended up getting a call from them and since then no issue from this dealer. Of course I deleted bad review after work was done and continue to goto same service center. Now I am preferred customer and get 10% discount :-) 2 Likes
Re: Trying to get help from a dealership Reply #6 – April 19, 2023, 10:55:02 am A bit of a drive but I just called our local Bakersfield dealer and confirmed they still service motorhomes. They have two locations but the downtown location is the one that does the service:Directions to Jim Burke Ford in Bakersfield, CA | Hours 3 Likes
Re: Trying to get help from a dealership Reply #7 – April 19, 2023, 12:10:56 pm "What is a 'modem replacement' on a Ford chassis?"Most recent vehicles have a built-in cellular/Wi-Fi modem (similar to a MiFi or Jetpack) that allows the vehicle to communicate with the internet--with you, via a smartphone app; and with the manufacturer. In the past six years, I've owned a couple of Subarus and three Ford trucks (serially, not all at once), and all have had this feature. 1 Likes
Re: Trying to get help from a dealership Reply #8 – April 19, 2023, 12:53:55 pm Ford recalled the Modem among other things in our C-Max a few years ago, prepandemic. We made an appointment in Tacoma where we bought the car at Titus/Will Ford weeks out. They had the recall information but when we arrived for the appointment they did not have the part and had not ordered it from Ford. At that time they then ordered it and we could come back when it came in. That was a few years ago and we have not been informed that the part has arrived. Later when we were in Bend Oregon we stopped into a Ford dealership without an appointment we asked about the Modem and other items in our recall, they said that they would order them. No word from them yet either. We are also looking for a competent Ford dealership no. We would like to buy a Ford Transit Trail Van but keep getting the run around from the Ford dealerships in this area we have contacted, we may have to cast a wider net most likely nation wide one. Re: Trying to get help from a dealership Reply #10 – April 19, 2023, 02:16:26 pm Just a small suggestion - we use a Ford Truck dealership. <smile> I assume driving to Portland Or is a bit too far for service on your RV. The 450 is a medium-duty Ford truck. The truck dealerships should be able to work on your LD.Rush Truck Centers | San Diego, CA Ford Commercial Vehiclesglen
