Resetting the oil change indicator March 28, 2023, 03:12:43 pm Seems like I used to know how to do this, but now I can’t figure it out. I changed the oil last year around this time but only put about 500 miles on it since then, however the dash display states an oil change is required. How do I reset it? I’m pretty sure it’s through the select switch on the dash but I can’t seem to change it. And, why does it think a change is needed?
Re: Resetting the oil change indicator Reply #1 – March 28, 2023, 03:48:27 pm From memory… press and hold the button on the dash below the speedometer. Holding it will bring up various settings to include resetting the oil change indicator. The alert comes up at 3,000 miles or 12 months which comes first. Hope this helps.

If holding the button down does not work, try pushing down the break and gas at the same time. Seems like that's what I had to do in my 2015https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU6uw1NMDvg
Re: Resetting the oil change indicator Reply #3 – March 28, 2023, 05:08:16 pm I would imagine your E450 owner manual would specify how to reset the oil change indicator.Give it a read.Larry

Re: Resetting the oil change indicator Reply #5 – March 29, 2023, 12:32:18 am Greg,I recently had the same experience as Greg, where the dashboard / trip display read “Change oil soon” roughly 500 miles after my most recent oil change. I found myself wondering whether the admonition was based on more than a simple mile/time meter, ie; perhaps newer E-450s monitor oil condition in some way, in addition to counting miles/hours, etc…. Perhaps a result of high moisture content in the air this winter…. At any rate, I elected to change the oil again given oil & filter from RockAuto are only about $35. I also re-read the Ford owner’s manual instruction on resetting the oil change meter. And, as Dave stated above, pressing brake and accelerator pedals simultaneously with the key in ignition mode does not change the oil status on the display. It is necessary to reset the oil status to “100%” using the trip meter button, from within the “Settings” menu. Any additional insight on this is of course welcome. - Warren
Re: Resetting the oil change indicator Reply #6 – March 29, 2023, 12:34:14 pm Thanks all. I'll get back to it this weekend as we are in the midst of another snowstorm right now. The video that ToothVet provided is what I recall but when I tried it yesterday it didn't work. The Ford manual does mention the gas- brake pedal method but that doesn't work for this model year.
