End caps
With the news of lazy daze closing. I wonder where one could find the end caps in the future?
Other parts do not worry as much. I already know if we have to replace the refrigerator I will loose the drawer under it. Since no one makes a 6 cuft currently.

Hi Stan;  You might have to make your own endcap pieces.  Todd Miller may be able to source those. He won't have a paint shop, so you'll have to arrange for the paint elsewhere.
I still have a link for a refrigerator.   Dometic Americana DM2672 Refrigerator 6 Cu. Ft Right Hinged    Actually getting one may be harder.  If the sizes are close enough you can-reuse your current front panels.  I found 'Nepal Teak'  Wilsonart that might match a '92's interior paneling. Laminate - Nepal Teak - 7209   Various prices, I assume can be ordered at 'Big Box" stores.   RonB

Vince may be able to locate the required end caps. RV Repair RV Service RV Remodel Bus Conversion - Fontana CA

Vince repaired my end caps prior to his departure from Lazy Daze. I wonder how many LD owners will be reaching out to Vince through Leisure Coach Works.

Then again Todd may be a good source to turn to. He is a very reliable guy with plenty of connections.

Our issuse will be height in the future. The current fridge is 491/2".
I know this winter we may tackle the rot in the back which will more than likely end up sacrificing old end caps. May need to figure out how to make them or find something that will work.
Ron hope to catch you guys soon

Talking with some of my LD Friends, we agree that end caps will be one of the items that end caps will be tough to replace if the Factory caps are no longer available.
End caps are custom-made for LD, I can't imagine an easy way to recreate them.
If working on a rig that needs the caps removed, carefully cut them free for reuse. Broken or cracked caps can be glued together using plastic epoxy, it works well.

Unfortunately, refrigerators have changed dimensions over the years and require modifications to the cabinets, sometimes extensive. It's one of the joys of owning an older LD. Many things change and can be a challenge to replace with modern parts.
The refrigerator that Ron provided the link for appears to be available.

Since the end caps are a weak point on LD's, this may be an opportunity to "reinvent" them.  Sheetmetal, perhaps?

Plastic is a lot easier and cheaper to shape than metal, Steel sheet metal readily rusts. Harder to shape stainless steel would be very expensive.
Bending curves in any type of tubing is difficult to do cleanly without kinks.
LD's end caps are probably molding and not bent.

I was thinking perhaps copper or aluminum.

The one RonB showed was 59 or 57 in height.
You're correct in extensive modification. We did this in our toybox years ago. I took out a 8cuft replaced with 12cuft.

I was driving past the Mothership last week, and saw the mould  for one of the end caps sitting in the yard.    I am sure it is gone by now.  If someone could convince LD to sell it, I would be willing to pick it up.

I would be willing to purchase too. That would be a nice thing to be able to offer owners in the future.

Seems like you could retrofit 3 in. x 25 ft. White PVC Schedule 40 Flexible Pipe as an end cap material.  Cut, bend, screw and 3m 5200.  Probably look pretty crude but if it kept water out on an older rig you might not care.
