iPad mount for navigation April 22, 2022, 04:46:51 pm Does anyone have experience with mounts for using an iPad as a navigator? I have the Pioneer nav unit from the factory, but it has drawbacks: 1) small screen size, 2) lack of ongoing database updates, 3) inconvenience for advance route planning outside of the RV, 4) lack of RV-specific road considerations (height, etc.).

Re: iPad mount for navigation Reply #4 – April 23, 2022, 02:35:29 pm Keith, here’s another possible solution for you…I had thought about using my tablet for gps navigation but passed because I thought it would cover up too much of the dash/center console. Eventually I want to get a dedicated gps and I’ll have to figure out a good location for it. In the meantime I’m using my iPhone for navigation. Having the phone nearby is a must, but there really isn’t anywhere to place it on the center console where I can view the screen and it won’t slide off. On the Jeep, I added a WeatherTech CupFone and it worked out well, so I thought I’d get one for the LD. What I ended up getting was a WeatherTech CupFone Two-View. This CupFone allows for either vertical or horizontal viewing. Not perfect but it serves it’s purpose. You have to decide which orientation you want when placing the phone in the holder and you can’t change orientation while driving, but it does the job.- John

I didn't want to place it in the left lower corner as I use the hood as a guide for position in the lane. The right lower corner (IMO) would be too far away for the driver to see the directions. Guess I'll need to come up with a dash mount situation or learn how to drive without using the lower left corner as a guide on.
