Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #1 – 3 years ago Hi Joan; I wonder if Mike Coachmen's encounter with power steering hoses and a huge pothole a few months ago: Unexpected travel plans change could have been partially related to this Ford recall. RonB 1 Likes Liked by: Lazy Bones
Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #2 – 3 years ago Could be; it seems that notifications of problems, even of serious, potentially dangerous issues, can be delayed well after the defects are detected/reported. Vehicle recall notices are usually very s..l..o..w to reach owners. 2 Likes Liked by: Jody, Barbara Allen

Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #4 – 3 years ago Thank you Joan for the heads up on the recall. I just checked the link you provided and my MB’s VIN is listed as needing the recall. So now I need to find a Ford service center that will do it. Funny that I haven’t gotten a recall notice in the mail though.- John 1 Likes Liked by: Mottleycru

RonBSince no one on the forum has ever reported the type of damage Mike's LD suffered from hitting a pothole, there is a very good chance his rig had defective hoses. In forty years of off-roading, I have never seen any vehicle have this degree of hose damage even when running in extreme conditions. Power steering systems are regularly subjected to high surge pressures and should be able to handle them without damage, especially a truck chassis that is designed for rough service.Larry

Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #7 – 3 years ago Mine is on the list too. I already had an appt to take it in for the doghouse insulation recall, so now that makes two. 1 Likes Liked by: Mottleycru
Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #8 – 3 years ago The three power steering hoses were defective as the hose separated from the crimp-on fittings. I am checking with the repair facility and advising them of the recall and will be seeking a recall refund. I'll keep all of you up on the results. 1 Likes Liked by: Mottleycru
Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #9 – 3 years ago just picked my unit up today from the Ford Dealer for Manufacturer Communication Number: SSM 49692. Guess I need to call them and see about getting this done now because my VIN is on this recall. I wold hacve thought they might check for recalls while it was in for service. Oh and I just got a request to do a survey from them.
Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #10 – 3 years ago We just had our recall service done at Frankfort Ford. No issues were found with the power steering lines. We didn't need the repair.
Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #11 – 3 years ago "I wold hacve thought they might check for recalls while it was in for service."---The Ford dealer or any service center should check for any TSBs or recall notices, but apparently, this is not always done, and recall notices are usually slow to be sent out to the owner. I wouldn't rely on a shop to check; the owner might want to plug in the VIN of his/her vehicles on the NHTSA website for any pertinent information. 1 Likes Liked by: Mottleycru
Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #12 – 3 years ago Well, good news- South Carolina DOT responded to our damage claim we submitted after the pothole incident in December. We received a check for the entire amount of the repair cost to Villa Verde! We then paid back to Farm Bureau Insurance the amount they paid us for the damage less the deductible. We are still waiting to hear from Ford about their recall. 9 Likes Liked by: JonS, Lazy Bones, RonB, debinvenice, amywoidtke, +5 more
Re: 2021-22 Ford E350, E450 recall Reply #13 – 3 years ago "We are still waiting to hear from Ford about their recall."We submitted the repair and hose replacement bill to Ford through our local dealership (who confirmed the damaged hose replacements were the right hoses now in place) and just received a refund for the cost of the repairs. We just returned from a short trip to North Carolina and Villa Verde performed flawlessly!
