Auto doorstep retreats and opens every time we open or close the door February 17, 2022, 02:51:43 pm Help! I have a 2006 L. D. that just developed an annoying problem with the auto doorstep. Previously, the step would stay out for use when we were camped with the engine was turned off. Now the step opens and retreats while camped with the engine off every time we open and close the door. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Mark

It’s a switch to turn this setting on or off. In my rear bath it’s on the left hand side as soon as I get in next to the porch light switch. 1 Likes
Re: Auto doorstep retreats and opens every time we open or close the door Reply #2 – February 17, 2022, 05:47:20 pm Here's a trick I use on seldom-if-ever-used switches. I drill a tiny hole sideways through the switch rocker and insert an unbent paper clip to lock the switch in its "off" position.I came up with this after an incident where I had a mysterious 0.7 A drain (that's 17 amp-hours a day!) which eventually turned out to be the awning lights, an LED strip on the wall where the awning attaches. With the awning retracted, they're completely invisible, even on a dark night. Since it's windy where I am, and anyway too cold to sit out under the awning, I never realized those lights were on. They could have been on for months, for all I knew!It was easy to bump the switch--or the steps and porch light switches, which I also almost never use--when fumbling for the main ceiling light switch as I entered the rig. Now that's prevented... yet the paperclip is easy to pull out if desired. 5 Likes

Re: Auto doorstep retreats and opens every time we open or close the door Reply #4 – February 20, 2022, 03:22:08 pm Hey guys. I am brand new here and not sure how this works. I just purchased a 2001 rear bath and my stairs are stuck in out position. I don't have an owners manual, so I'm not even sure if the switches on the left coming in operate the stairs. There are two black toggles next to each other and a red switch below. One turns on the light near floor, but I have no idea what other's do. Also, I am searching desperately for an owners manual for this year and model. Im sure I didn't post in right place. Please forgive and direct if you would. And can someone please help me. With Gratitude. Tommy.

One is located either in the rear of the coach battery compartment or under the hood, driver's side. It should be labeled. There is a second fuse hidden in the wall switch. Unscrew the wall switch assembly and gently pull it out, there should be a 5-amp inline fuse in the wiring.Larry 1 Likes

There is a Signature input text field on the “Modify Profile” page where you can enter your LD’s model and year.On my 2021 MB there are 3 rocker switches near the door. One is for the kitchen ceiling light, one is for the outside porch light and one is for the electric step. The electric step IMO is counterintuitive but this is how it works… When the engine is running and in gear the step retracts no matter what. When the switch is flipped down the step comes out when the door is open and retracts when the door is closed. While the door is open and the step is out, flipping the switch up will keep the step out even after closing the door. The last way is how I set it when camping. To my way of thinking this is counterintuitive. A switch that is flipped up means that power is on. In this case though, when the switch is flipped up the motor is off and stays in whatever position it was when the switch was flipped. Oh well, it is what it is…. I hope this helps.- John

If they are electronic, do they retract when you turn on the engine and put it out of park? They should automatically. 1 Likes
