Wax the strings on your pleated shades? 3 years ago Hi Folks,I’m thinking of being proactive concerning broken strings in the future. My thought is that a waxed string would be less abrasive and minimize wear. Would this be a worthwhile thing to do? Another product? Or just not worry about it and restring as necessary? Thanks,Steve

The failures I've seen have generally been of two types: frayed strings, and strings that wore out the plastic grommets that they passed through. Waxing the strings could help with both scenarios by reducing friction, and I don't see how it could hurt. A little cassette of sewing beeswax would be one easy way to do it.
