Re: Very old Laze Daze for sale ad Reply #4 – January 10, 2022, 11:19:41 am The LD Companion article is a very good overview. Here is a scan taken from one of the factory scrapbooks in 2003. The original photo probably dates to the mid 1960s. A Caravan gathering with mostly truck campers with one of the new "Sportsman" campers.Art 5 Likes

It made any truck mounted camper pale in comparison! Even so, I also favored the Alaskan pop up, I think I would have been okay with that on a utility body. 1 Likes

Re: Very old Laze Daze for sale ad Reply #8 – January 11, 2022, 02:38:43 am Hi Gary; Sleeping 6 people was mostly hyperbole. Two adults in the cabover. That wasn't shown on the drawing, but the picture reveals that most campers had the cabover. The dinette folded down, the table bridging the gap, and the cushions laying flat. The current MidBath does that still. Out on a limb here, but my old Lindy had a cabinet across the back, like my TK, but the front face folded down 90 degrees to form a bunk bed. It had a 1/4" thick panel that covered the doors. and about a 1" mat that served as a mattress. Maybe two small children or one larger, and the LD camper might have had that arrangement above the dinette, (passenger side.) Unlike todays 'palaces' on wheels, the camping was more tent like, but kept out (mostly) wind, rain and bugs. My first camper (about 1965 vintage) had a CO producing propane lantern for light, a hand pump for sink water, and you had to burn a mantle often, for the propane light. I think Thorium was in the ashes of that. You could use the lantern for heat also. It had so many air leaks, I don't think CO or oxygen depletion was much of an issue. The cabover was large, more headroom than my TK, and better cushions. I had a good stained glass partition in it (I made it) worth at least $500, and sold the camper for $300! RonB 3 Likes
Re: Very old Laze Daze for sale ad Reply #9 – January 23, 2022, 08:40:22 am My grandfather, whose grandparents settled in San Juan Capistrano, had an L. D. Camper in the ‘60s. I vividly remember the name on the back of it. 😊 1 Likes

Re: Very old Laze Daze for sale ad Reply #12 – January 23, 2022, 11:13:54 pm Larry, if you are every out in our Riverside County area, I know of two of these old Lazy Daze cab over campers in Jurupa Valley. According to the Feb 2021 google earth street views, both were still be there. Both these old campers are 11.5 footers with the wet shower option in the back by the camper entry door. One of them is off Union St. near Bellgrave Ave. This one is mounted on a one ton Chev dually, and you can easily see it from the street. The other one is free standing in a backyard off Bain St. This one is pretty easy to find too as the homeowner claims he has the largest collection of toy Tonka dump trucks in the world and he has over 200 Tonka dump trucks on display in his front yard. Talk to him about the Tonkas and you can get him to take you in the back yard and show you the camper.
