exterior electrical outlet
Just started the search for a replacement spring for the cover that will not stay on the exterior electric outlet.
I had a couple of questions for those that have encountered this situation.

1- To protect the electrical plug from damage (rain), I am found this item I found on amazon.
Baby Proofing Outlet Covers Electric Outlet Pulg Covers for Baby Safety Socket Cover Protector Cap to Prevent Your Child from Power Shock Hazard.
Would this temporally protect the electrical system?

2- If the LD experiences a hard rain storm (which seems to be happening often here), would it be possible to turn that circuit breaker off to give it a chance to dry out?
I looked at the manual and was not able to determine which of the five breakers I would need to switch off before plugging back into electricity. 2000 MB.

3- If it is advisable to replace the whole electric outlet and cover, would one that has a button in the center to turn it off or reset be best?
The outlet works, but it is vulnerable now. To paint it would it need to be a metal cover?

Questions, questions, I know, Kimberley

(2) - It should be the same breaker that controls all of the inside outlets (except for the microwave).  It should also be GFCI, although this seems to vary from year to year.  Some years have a GFCI breaker while others have a GFCI outlet somewhere.

You can dry it out and it will probably work for a while, but eventually the springs holding the wires into the back of the outlet will rust/fail and no amount of drying will fix it.

(3) The exterior outlet on MB units eventually lets water in and this causes problems over time.  I had to remove the cover (painted on), repair the outlet, and replace the cover with a new unpainted one (I bent the old one).

Looks like the circuit breaker on the 2000 MB would be:

c) 120V - 15 amp with integrated GFCI and test button to Refrigerator and Outlets

Found this cover etrailer: Duplex Outlet Cover - Polar White Item # 37247505

I will get moving on replacement, want to protect the LD, Kimberley
