Toilet valve December 16, 2020, 08:03:40 am There is always something...Just noticed when cleaning out the tanks that the toilet valve inside the toilet does not always close completely. It depends on how the foot valve kicks back. If the foot valve kicks back hard the valve inside the toilet closes. If you raise the foot valve slowly the inside valve does not close letting all water to escape. I am supposing that there is a spring involved but wish some advice. Standard toilet on the 2007 LD. Re: Toilet valve Reply #2 – December 16, 2020, 11:09:24 am Mike, Do you refer to the toilet bowl ball/ring seal or the water supply valve? If the White ball does not close easily you may need to clean and lubricate - many use Pledge (the wax lubricates and protects the Black ring seal). If on the other hand you refer to water continuing to flow into the bowl for a long while (more than a minute or so), after releasing the pedal, you may have a worn-out toilet water supply valve. Re: Toilet valve Reply #3 – December 16, 2020, 12:38:01 pm Manual recommend spraying Pledge on the valve ball and opening and closing it with the foot pedal a few times. This will lubricate the ball and gasket.

I have tried Pledge and it seems to be working better. Wasn't sure if I should leave the Pledge spray on the valve or to rinse it off with water which remained in the bowl. Very pretty bubbles. Will spray again in a few days and hope that takes care of the issue. Thanks everyone. Mike L.

Nothing magical about Pledge, if it still leaks, you can try cleaning the ball seals, using something like a popsical stick to clean the groove. Filling the bowl and soaking in vinegar sometimes is effective.At 11 years old, it might be time to replace the seals. Plenty of info here or on You-Tube.Larry
