Range hood fan motor squeal
The fan motor on the range hood was squealing. I lowered it and had some silicone spray lubricant  handy so I sprayed the shaft, both sides. It was quite. We just came back from camping. We used it 3 or 4 times. The last time I turned it on the squeal was back.
Once I rest up and eat I will go out and get the name and model number off it and order another one, unless there are any ideas.
I did find it worked quite well when it wasn't squealing.  The range hood says Lazy Daze on the front, I couldn't see any other labels.

Hi Steve;  Those motors use a 'lifetime' lubricated sleeve bearing. When they run out of lubricant their life has expired.  I'm guessing the vent is a Ventline product. There should be identification numbers on the motor. I did find this:  https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Ventline/BVD0218-00-R.html
It looks like the S0721 hood depicted.  Hope this helps. Others here may have more direct knowledge.     RonB

"The fan motor on the range hood was squealing."

While mine did not survive long enough to 'squeal' I could not tolerate the racket it made.

I replaced it with a computer 'Muffin Fan'. No squeal, no racket!   ;)   ;D

The motor was an Elixir S545A3 1.6amp.  They are not found new any more. Heng has one that should be an exact fit and amperage. So I ordered it.
I did want to try the muffin fan idea, I was thinking it might not last and would take more time to install.
It does make more noise due to the air it moves, I think it does better than the one in our house. The bright side is after using it while cooking and then shutting it off, the AC didn't seem nearly as loud.
Thank you RonB and Lazybones

I used a Heng's replacement and it was fine. When I had everything apart, the damper was displaced and so I delt with that too.
Then I put in a decent LED light at the same time.

I'm bringing this thread back to life! :-)

A couple of days ago, my hood fan stopped working. I removed the fan and cleaned everything I could but no luck (yuck!).

I have had intermittent problems with the LED hood light but now it is working fine and the fan is not.

Would the Heng replacement mentioned in this thread work on my 2003 MB? If so, would anyone have a link or the part number? It looks like it would be an easy repair.

TIA!

Have reconditioned many similar motors over the years, if they can be disassembled. What happens is lubricant has dried to a varnish on the motor bearing shaft, and that needs to be removed with the motor apart. Use alcohol and/or acetone to clean off the shaft ends where it passes thru the bushings. Do the same with a q-tip to the inside of the bushings. If done correctly, the shaft should spin freely when reassembled - tap the sides of the bushings with a screwdriver handle to insure alignment. Then put a drop of light machine oil on each bushing. This should cure all squeaks and binding.
