Screw new Fantastic Vent into the roof ?
Hi Everyone,

Today I'm removing the old brittle swamp cooler from our 93 RB, and by tomorrow will add a new Fantastic Vent in it's place.

I'm a bit uneasy about putting a dozen new screw holes into the roof, and wonder if anyone would recommend other ways.

I just saw on Cheap RV Living that someone was using 3M VHB tape to adhere a solar panel to a fiberglass roof.

Any guidance is appreciated.   Now I'll get back to the roof with my hammer, crowbar, etc. and see if can complete getting the cooler off and prep the surface.  Will check back later.

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Bed the fan’s base in sealant and press down so the excess sealant oozes out, now screw it to the roof. Bury the screw heads in sealant. This is how the Mothership does it.
Mask the outline of the base with masking before to ease cleanup.
Double sided tape will not guarantee a water tight seal nor be as strong.

Larry, would you use 3M5200 FC or some other sealant?
