Patriot's Day
This is for the history buffs among us! I dabble in historical research to no small extent. I suppose it is an off-shoot of my love of Genealogy. Since I have/had ancestors who served in the American Revolution I have studied that part of this Nation's history very closely. But apparently I was deficient in my research because I missed one part entirely, Patriot's Day!   :-[

Great post, Steve.  I grew up south of Boston in Plymouth County and I have ancestors that fought in the Revolutionary War, as well as The French and Indian War, King Philip's War, 1812...and every other war this country has fought.  As school kids we were always a little jealous of Boston area kids.  We didn't get Evacuation Day off.  As a side note, when I moved to New Hampshire in the 1980's, the state still celebrated Fast Day and Memorial Day was celebrated on the traditional date.  Fast Day has since been replaced by MLK Jr Day, and moved to January and Memorial Day is a Monday holiday like everywhere else.
