Yes, electric RVs are way far off.  I say this as the driver of a car with 50 miles of electric range (Honda Clarity PHEV) who does 90% of my driving as electric and really prefers the experience to driving a traditional power train.

Energy density is the problem.  I takes such a big, heavy, expensive battery to propel a large vehicle 200-300 miles down the road.  Fire trucks and local delivery trucks don’t travel that far.

My city is buying a few electric busses for local transit.  They plan to charge every 30 min or so at timed stops.

I'm guessing that many decades ago, there were articles that said "Why horses are far from dead"
