Onan Generator Air Filter parts October 13, 2019, 11:42:13 am I recently purchased a 1997 26.5MB. When I went to do a routine service I found that the air filter housing is missing. I've searched on line but am unable to find the parts for sale. Also coming up with the correct part number has been a challenge. If anyone knows where I could get the part I would be very grateful. The generator starts and runs but I obviously don't want to run it without an air filter.
Re: Onan Generator Air Filter parts Reply #1 – October 13, 2019, 12:51:35 pm Another problem with old LDs is finding parts for the obsolete appliances. I suggest searching the internet for RV salvage yards and contacting them. Onan dealers may have a 'bone yard', where scraped generators are stockpiled, it maybe time to get on the phone and start calling. You should have the needed information, listed on the generator specification tag.Searching, I was able to find the paper element but no housings. Perhaps another forum member, with the same generator, could provide a photo, so you know what the housing looks like. It may be possible to fabricate the missing housing. Happy huntingLarry

I captured pics of the filter/preheater box in case you are unsure of the complexity of the missing part. Here are those pics.Good luck in your search.Kent
Re: Onan Generator Air Filter parts Reply #3 – October 13, 2019, 03:44:07 pm I did locate this supplier Onan Generator PartsONAN 800-30843 P80 AIR INLET COVERThey don’t provide photos on line of the parts offered so you will need to call them. After looking for the part in question, I found what may be the “Pricey” part. The entire generator is less than twice the price of the part on eBay. 🙀Kent
Re: Onan Generator Air Filter parts Reply #4 – October 13, 2019, 09:49:00 pm Many thanks for the excellent information. Looking at the price they want for the part I think I'll fabricate something out of sheet metal using the photos as a guide. I'm no too worried about the preheating part as I don't plan on cold weather camping. I will probably buy the filter and build a box around it.
