Adding generator to 2002 23.5 Class C
Considering buying. It has no generator. It was the last 2002 custom  manufactured. Might it have been prewired for a generator?

A 4000W Onan Microquiet generator was standard on a 2002 Lazy Daze; if this "class C" is a Lazy Daze, maybe the previous owner removed the generator?  If the "class C" is not a Lazy Daze, you might want to try contacting the manufacturer of the brand to ask about pre-wiring.

Adding a generator is a very expensive project, no matter if it is pre-wired or not. None of us will know if it is pre-wired without inspecting the rig beforehand.
You will need to find an Emerald generator and the mounting bracket, both are obsolete.
A fuel line will need to be run from the fuel tank, possibly requiring the dropping of the fuel tank, another expensive proposition, change the fuel pump if you do this.

You would be better off looking for an LD with a Factory-installed generator.

Was it possible then to have the factory delete the generator? He mentions custom, maybe that was one of the things customized. Why, one would do that is beyond me.

I have only seen 2002 LDs with the Emerald but evidently some have the Onan MicroQuiet.
Either way it's a big , expensive project

The Honda could charge the batteries or run the microwave but it would not start and run the rooftop A/C, the thing we want the generator mostly for.
Where is the owner going to store the generator?, it needs to be out of sight, generator thefts are very common and widespread. Many rigs do not have an outside storage bin large enough to store a generator and carrying it on the rear bumper is an invitation to have it removed. Generators disappear often, even when chained down, they are as good as cash and easy to sell.
And the big question, where do the can(s) of gasoline get stored? A leaky can can stink a rig up for a long time and is extremely  dangerous considering live flames are present in the refrigerator, when operated on propane, the water heater and furnace.

A Factory installed generator is the best way to go and I, if a generator was wanted, would move on and find a rig with a generator.
If you insist on buying this rig, first have it inspected by an experience RV tech, to find hidden warts, and ask about the possibility of adding a generator and how much he would charge to install an Onan. It will be a substantial sum.
The generator is just part of the package, the mounting brackets are extra plus accessing the fuel tank and whatever electrical modifications are needed. RV shops charge around $150 an hour these days and this can be a complicated installation.

Our 2002 MB had an Onan MicroQuiet and it was delivered in Feb. 2002.  I though 2002 was the first year for the MicroQuiet, replacing the Emerald used in prior years.
