Replacing water pump on 2017 MB July 27, 2019, 09:53:29 am Our water pump had begun to act strange, run continuously until you turn it off then on again it would not continuously run for several hours, and finally stopped running. Since we always carry a spare water pump, I decided it was time to replace. I pulled the panel under the sink off and was able to remove the lines to the water pump (I had previously drained the water tank to keep water spills to a minimum). Next, I was challenged by how to actually remove the screws holding the pump in place. As I was scratching my head, my wife said why don't you call Vince at the Mothership for advise. After a few more head scratches, I called Vince. He instructed me to remove the converter/fuse assembly (4 screws) and then I would have easy access to the water pump screws and wires. Of course, I had unhooked from the 120 volt line, disconnected battery and pulled the satellite fuse before messing with electricity (of course pulling fuse #8 might have been sufficient). Once I pulled the converter /fuse assembly out, I was able to quickly replace the old pump and reassemble everything. The new pump works great. Now the body of this 72 year old boy will need a few libations to recover. 5 Likes
Re: Replacing water pump on 2017 MB Reply #1 – July 27, 2019, 10:34:07 am I went through the same routine on my 2016 MB. It seems these water pumps are not built to last. So far so good on the new one. Frank

Re: Replacing water pump on 2017 MB Reply #3 – July 27, 2019, 11:03:08 am Shurflo 4008-101-A65. Flow 3 GPM. 55PSI.We use our water pump more than most people and have always needed to replace them every 3 years or so. It could be the luck of the draw.
Re: Replacing water pump on 2017 MB Reply #4 – July 27, 2019, 12:33:57 pm I just did mine a couple months ago, as stated remove the converter and it makes life a lot easier. The pump I took out was origional from 1994. I would like to think the new one might make it 5 years. Make sure there arent any leaks before it goes back togeather.

In the early and mid 2000s, LD used variable speed pumps that were very prone to failure. Larry 2 Likes
Re: Replacing water pump on 2017 MB Reply #7 – March 02, 2022, 01:30:04 am My 2016 LD water pump acts wired recently. I am thinking to replace the water pump. Except revolution Shurflo 4008-101-A65. Flow 3 GPM. 55PSI, do you suggest other brand water pump is quieter and better?
Re: Replacing water pump on 2017 MB Reply #8 – March 02, 2022, 08:14:13 am There are.videos on utube on how to clean the filter, check for debris in pump also how to adjust with a 5/16 allen wrench. Also clean the screens on the faucets....clean and soak in vinegar if badly clogged with gunk....usually comes from water heater not being cleaned and from not using filter when hooked to city water.....some pump can be adjusted just put in model number and search. Also read the manual if you have one...it explains alot.Good luck
Re: Replacing water pump on 2017 MB Reply #9 – March 02, 2022, 11:36:24 am Ross,Last time I did that job I was impressed with what a PITA the back screws that hold the pump to the floor are to put back in. I have determined that next time I do it, I will thread wood screws into the floor with machine screw threads at the top. I have seen these at the local industrial supply, so I know they can be purchased. Then, I can just remove nuts on the four hold-down bolts, and lift out the pump.My friend's water pump in his SOB trailer is under the dinette seat and can be accessed from above. It will be simple to remove and replace. I envy that.Harold 1 Likes

Those threaded studs are often called "hanger bolts," and are available from local hardware stores as well as from McMaster-Carr. 2 Likes
Re: Replacing water pump on 2017 MB Reply #11 – March 02, 2022, 03:44:39 pm We replaced our old water pump 2 years ago in the summertime, the old also continued to come on and off once and a while after it was fully pressurized. I installed a Shurflo 4048 which was supposed to be an upgrade? Last winter in February it failed while we were snow camping and skiing we were plugged into 30amps, temperature was not the issue it continued to blow fuses. I did not have a spare with since I had just bought and installed it 6 months previously. We were 4 people and a cat with 4 new feet of snow (powder skiers paradise) with drifts of over 6 feet in front of the LD, we did not want to go anyway. We carry two 5 gallon tanks of fresh drinking water and several gallon jugs since we do not drink the water from our LD tank. So no showers and we used jugged water for the WC and everything else. We stayed another three days and got buy. I replaced it with a Sureflo 4008 recommended here by many and it is quiet and working well. PS We now carry a spare water pump Karen~Liam 98 ~ MB NinA
Re: Replacing water pump on 2017 MB Reply #12 – March 02, 2022, 04:47:23 pm Just had water pump replaced last week by LD. Thankfully still under warranty. Pump was not priming. LD stated current pump usually needs the bypass pressure fine tuned periodically with an allen wrench.
