Toilet cleaning
Our rig is kept indoors when storing and it's not close to home, so the toilet gets a bit "crusty" from the water and as it evaporates....what have folks here found to be the secret to cleaning it?  Same cleansers as in the home or something less harsh?

Vinegar,  pour it in and let it sit awhile to dissolve the hard water deposits.

White vinegar, warm water, toilet brush.

It's a bit of a nuisance, but putting softened water into the pipes cures a multitude of the ills caused by hard water.  It takes about a half hour or so to gently fill our 60-gallon tank, which then lasts about a week.  Seems like a good trade off to keep that pesky resi-doo-doo out of the faucet screens, shower head, toilet rinser, and just out of the pipes in general.

This is best accomplished from a water-connected campsite, not while others are waiting at a dump station, or other communal water supply.

When you put it in storage, turn off the pump, drain the water out of the bowl, and add a water balloon to seal out smells from the tanks.  Presto - a waterless seal, thus no deposits from evaporating water in the bowl.

No, I haven't done this.  It is an idea that cropped up a few years ago when I was discussing storage with another member.  Still, I think it should work and would avoid having to clean crusty deposits.

I put a layer of plastic wrap over the bowl, close the lid and put another layer over that.  Probably overkill, but no water evaporates from the bowl, so no "crusties."

This worked even when we had an RV that we left in AZ for the summer.

To me this is an unknown phenomenon but then my rig is parked in my side yard, always accessible and toilet bowl refilled frequently. NO crustys ever!   ::)   8)

Follow-up:

Filled the bowl to within 3 inches, added about 16oz of white vinegar....let it sit for about an hour...scrubbed with a toilet brush, let it sit for another 15-30 minutes.....goodbye crustys !!!!!
