How to get a new AC to the roof

Have a long ladder that can act as a slide.
Place ac on the sheet of plywood and put it on the ladder.
Have strong son-in-law and two grandkids.
Stand aside, while they pull it up and put it in the hole.
They removed the old one and put the new one in place in 25 minutes.

What have I done? Wondering why even the fan does not come on.
The solution was to read the manual. The last section says you have to reset the system, which involves pressing two buttons while switching to the On position.

The heat pump is an improvement to the heat strip, but it will not replace the space heater. Besides, we normally do not have hookups, so the furnace and cat heater will normally be used.

Tripped breaker, in line fuse, wire pull loose while maneuvering unit into place...

Frustration over “plug-n-play” replacements can boggle the mind.

Yes and no. I have one of these in my Airstream. At temperatures above about 40° F., it's more efficient than a heat strip (although it's still a power hog). Colder than that, though, and the heat pump just doesn't work... whereas a heat strip will work at any temperature. Having now experienced both, I'd take a heat strip, given the choice.

It's a Dometic Penguin. I don't know the model number. I was not comfortable with understanding the dozens of Dometic models, so I called Vince and he said the one they were currently installing would work. Vincent is gold to me.

I wrote a short article on it for The Companion.

Don, we went the route of tying up in a tarp with eyelets and using rope tied to eyelets to pull it up with the other person pushing from below as they climbed up the ladder.

It is heavy and bulky - planning is needed. Getting it on her roof was probally the hardest part of the install.
