Klaus, I get your point about the add-ons but don’t think they would add $18k in value. You would have to pay sales tax no matter what so that doesn’t figure in. Just for me, I would wait and purchase a new one instead of this one. Then I could choose the options and colors, plus I get my name on the plate by the coach entry door! 👍 YMMV.

I think you are correct on the sales tax comment Greg.  Others have reported that this ad was a scam.  I could imagine the scenario of a motorhome purchase with the idea of taking trips and then after a trip or two, they decide it isn't for them for whatever the reason.  Nonetheless, the seller had stated that there would be no sales tax due because you are buying from the owner in Arizona.  That is only a half truth.  There is no sales tax paid to him, but there is sales tax due when the vehicle is re-registered in the state of Arizona.

Copy and paste the link: Sales tax on cars and vehicles in Arizona

As for the value of the add-ons?  Their value is based on how much the new buyer sees them as an asset or not.  In most cases, the seller isn't going to recoup 100% of the cost.  Recently, there was a listing of a LD 2013 Rear Bath in Orange, CA that had just about every option one could order from the factory.  In addition, he had a lot of suspension add-ons put on that purportedly improve the handling, however at a high cost.  Some members have done similar improvements, while others believe they are unnecessary.  This 2013 was listed originally for a "Firm" price of around $77,000 with 25K miles.  Most of us thought that to be quite high.  The seller then lowered his price to $74,995  and marked it "reduced" before eventually marking it as sold.  The listing is still up on RV Trader.  I am curious if the seller got his "firm" price, and if he did, kudos to him for being able to recoup a lot of his expensive add-ons.

When a private person buys a used vehicle from another private person the buyer does not have to pay sales tax to the seller or to the DMV, at least not in Arizona. I have bought quite a few used vehicles here in Arizona and last year I bought my Lazy Daze in Washington - and I had never to pay sales tax (or use tax).

The information from the link in Gary's comment applies, of course, when a new or used vehicle is being purchased from a dealership. It does not apply to private, non-commercial transactions between private parties. This might be different in other states, although I doubt this.

By the way: I just talked to the seller of this particular 2019 24.5 Lazy Daze, and the ad was not at all a scam. The ad got probably flagged because the seller published it at the same time into four different Craigslist locations and did not know that Craigslist does not like that. I suggested to him to also advertise it here; he will probably do this soon.

In general I find it rather questionable to call someone immediately a scammer just because his Craigslist ad has been removed. There are many reasons why such ads can be flagged. I had years ago an ad of my own (not for a vehicle) flagged that I had put only into the Flagstaff Craigslist and that was completely legitimate and harmless. For whatever reason some people did not like it, and when a couple of people within a certain time flag an ad it gets automatically removed. A day later I published exactly the same ad again and it did not get removed. There are certainly ads that "smell" like scam (and I would not put a link for such an ad here), but this one clearly did not fit into this category.

For a private-party sale within California, the buyer will pay sales tax to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) when registering the car. If the buyer owes use tax, it will be based upon the purchase price of the car, minus whatever sales tax paid to another state.

That's awful! I automatically assumed that such private-party deals would be sales-tax-free everywhere. Makes the offer of this particular Lazy Daze at least for Californians not very attractive.

Same in Washington.  Dealers must hate that law in AZ.  Dealers here have two advantages, first you do have to pay sales (use) tax on any licensed vehicle, no matter where you buy it, but if you trade your vehicle in to a dealer, you only pay sales tax on the difference between the new price and the trade in value they give you.  Needless to say, they play games with trade in values, but it rarely pays to sell it yourself if you are getting a new vehicle.

I took this right off the Arizona Department of revenue Q&A web site;
Q. I purchased my vehicle from a private party. Do I owe use tax?
A. No. Casual sales between private parties are not taxable. When you register your vehicle at MVD, bring a copy of the bill of sale or any documentation that shows you purchased the vehicle from a private party.

How lucky I am in Arizona! Always good weather (OK, right now it's a little hot), no double sales tax, and in Yavapai County not even emissions testing.

By the way: Before I bought my Lazy Daze I called both DMV's in Arizona and Washington and asked them about buying a used RV from a private party, moving it across state lines, title, registration and taxes. The Arizona office told me that there would be no problem to register such a vehicle in Arizona for as long as I bring the Washington title (and maybe also the bill of sale) and that I would have to pay here in Arizona nothing but the usual vehicle registration fee and license tax. The Washington office told me that, if the vehicle would not anymore be registered to the previous owner, I would have to purchase for $30 a temporary moving permit which is valid for three days to move the (unregistered) vehicle to another state. When I said that I wanted to bring the vehicle to Arizona and was not sure that I would manage to do this within three days they told me that I could purchase two of such permits at the same time and then fill in the appropriate dates myself. There was no mentioning of sales or use tax, also not when I purchased these permits (and I needed indeed four days to come down here).

What I said would only apply if you registered it in Washington.  If I bought an LD in AZ and registered it here, I would have to pay Washington sales (use) tax on the sales price I paid in AZ.  Almost worth moving to AZ.

A problem with AZ is the registration and license fees are very expensive, especially for newer vehicles.
In NM where I have my vehicles registered, it's much less, $85 for the RV.

Thank you for the clarification Klaus.  That's another reason CA residents are moving to states like Arizona, i.e. used car taxes! along with all the other taxes Californians pay!  Another plus to buying new from the factory would be the frame and construction warranty provided to the original purchasers only.  I doubt that Steve would warrant even a nearly new one like the 2018 that recently sold with very low miles or now this 2019.  I am only guessing because they make their money on selling new units and the repairs of previously sold units.  However, the appliances would all have their respective warranties.

I think the only thing California does not tax is Social Security benefits. Everything else in fair game. If it wasn't for family obligations and proximity, I would be moving out of state also. Thanks goodness for Prop. 13 at least!

Exactly, for us Californians.  And to clarify further, the sales tax varies depending on the individual county you are a resident of.

After learning about the sales tax situation in other states I agree that this is not exactly a bargain for many people. However, the ad is up again and, I think, worth to be published here:

2019 24.5' Lazy Daze Twin King for $100k in Surprise/Buckeye, Arizona (about 50 miles from Phoenix Airport):
2019 24.5' Lazy Daze TwinKing - rvs - by owner - vehicle automotive sale.

Regarding the name plate I'm wondering whether it could be ordered separately from Lazy Daze - I would not mind to have my name (or some nice generic term) at the door of my RV. I will ask for that whenever I anyway need something from them.

I can confirm that they do sell you a new inscribed nameplate with whatever name you choose.  I ordered one for my 2007 in 2011 when I purchased "RU LAZY" from the Stevens family.

"I'm wondering whether it could be ordered separately..."

Most folks have their family name engraved. I used "Lazy Bones" which I specified during the ordering process. It came, neatly riveted to the sidewall near the left side of the coach door. I have heard of folks ordering one after market or when buying used.   ;)

AZ does get you on other taxes, even though we don't pay private sales vehicle tax.
High property taxes (I was surprised it was at the level I paid in CA back when), tax on rentals (e.g. you pay rent for the house/apartment and pay taxes for that also, only state I heard that did that).  They got hit hard in this state during the 2007/2008 economy problems and I think they just started taxing everything to make up for the extreme losses on  property taxes.

Jota, you pay much less for registration. We would pay that much for a car worth about $10,000  or less (based on what we have paid on our cars).  They want that bill of sale as they figure out the registration fee for that and then lower it a set % each year.
