A newer used LD and sales tax December 17, 2018, 08:21:08 pm We're interested in purchasing a "newish" LD from out of state (we're in California). Can anyone tell us what we can expect as far as tax, license, and registration costs are going to be?

JodyI realize that. I was wondering the percentages and the what the yearly renewal would be. We've never bought a vehicle in this price range.
Re: A newer used LD and sales tax Reply #3 – December 18, 2018, 09:02:27 am You might want to contact DMV ( https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv ) for this information. You will need to pay the sales tax rate in your CA county of residence on what you pay for the LD in order to register it , but it's very difficult to even ballpark any figures for the yearly registration fees for a "newish" LD. Since the LD was built in California, it's already smog-equipment compliant, but, as Jody pointed out, you will need a smog test and certificate to register the vehicle. Do contact the DMV with specifics of the intended buy; they should be able to advise you. 2 Likes

Good luck. DMV Search
Re: A newer used LD and sales tax Reply #7 – December 18, 2018, 10:51:30 pm My 'newer' 2013 IB was first registered (CA) in 2014. I just pulled the registration papers. Registration fees for 5/2/18-5/2/19 were $678. YMMV.Joel 1 Likes
