SHURFLO® 4008 RV REVOLUTION™ BY-PASS PUMP Manual December 10, 2018, 09:57:15 am I uploaded the pdf 4008 manual. I think this water pump is the most common pump LD is using. As an aside check out the recommendations on winterizing. I for years carried a spare water pump just in case. Last year my water pump was dying a very very slow death. I happened to be within a few miles of the LD mothership. Made an appointment. As luck would have it they didn't have that model on hand or more likely any spares. They used the one I had. Only change labor - 1/2 hour in fact. It seems this pump is on sale on Amazon SHURFLO-4008-101-E65-Revolution-Water-Pump. After reading the install paper I found you can buy the parts for a bit less -- ie $21 vs $60...... Re: SHURFLO® 4008 RV REVOLUTION™ BY-PASS PUMP Manual Reply #2 – December 10, 2018, 10:31:40 am I'm fine with no spending unnecessarily on parts, but if the pump's motor is bad, replacing the housing(s) wouldn't fix the problem. As far as I know, the lower housing contains a diaphragm/valve unit and the upper housing has a pressure switch and the check valve. If one of those component has gone south, then I can see just replacing the non-functional parts. But, what are the "tells" for what the problem is? A failed check valve or loose wires should be obvious, but how does one diagnose a bad motor (from a failed diaphragm or pressure switch) unless the pump is removed and examined? Thanks for any information!
Re: SHURFLO® 4008 RV REVOLUTION™ BY-PASS PUMP Manual Reply #3 – December 10, 2018, 12:11:29 pm I suggest just changing the entire pump, if it goes bad. It greatly reduces the time needed to change out a pump. The cost difference isn't great and many times a failed pump head has leaked water into the motor's bearings, damaging them. Motors wear out too, with extended use.Shurflo's 4008 is a good pump with a long life, ours has lasted many years, a nice improvement over the earlier variable speeds pumps that went bad regularly. Carrying the same model pump, as installed, makes the replacement a much simpler job.Larry 2 Likes
