Re: Grill mat? Reply #1 – October 17, 2018, 03:29:33 pm I have used these on and of for a few years.Pros:Easy grill clean up if needed, usually the grill never gets dirty.Really great for veggies.Works great for fish (no sticking)Gives food grill marks.Easy to trim to size.Cons:The mat needs to be cleaned frequently.Cleaning the mat with a damp cloth is best.I have concerns about any chemicals that may leach out under high heat. 2 Likes
Re: Grill mat? Reply #2 – October 17, 2018, 05:00:31 pm Thanks, Jerry! That “leaching” scenario is my concern, too, so I will do more research. I don’t think that this little O-grill gets hot enough (8500 BTUs max) to cause concern, but who knows? Thanks again! 1 Likes

Re: Grill mat? Reply #4 – October 17, 2018, 07:40:19 pm Chris, my Q1000 has a “porcelainized” grill surface, i, e, porcelain coating over the cast iron. Wire brushing would damage the surface, I think. The grill I carry in the rig is called an O Grill; it has a cast iron grill coated with something that’s not “porcelain”, but the sticking properties of both grill surfaces are the same! I’d rather use my little 30-year-old charcoal Pyromid, but many places that I camp don’t allow charcoal grills.
Re: Grill mat? Reply #5 – October 18, 2018, 05:42:11 pm Hi Joan,We've been using a copper grill mat for about 6 months on the home grill and love it. The package does say not to exceed 500 degrees. The copper mats have discolored but that hasn't effected their use. They clean up with washing. And, the BBQ stays clean! They're called Yoshi grill mats. Chicken and veggies - perfect!Best,JuliWMinden, NV
