12V socket in the coach October 09, 2018, 12:58:51 am Can anyone tell me if the 12V socket located in the coach of a 89 LD gets power from the house batteries or the engine battery.
Re: 12V socket in the coach Reply #1 – October 09, 2018, 03:25:03 am Hi Hank; Depends on where the 12V. dc socket is. If it is on the dash it is probably powered by the chassis battery. If it is elsewhere in the coach, it is probably fed by the coach battery(s). If you are plugged in, then the converter will be providing power to the 12 V.dc socket. A digital voltmeter will tell you. If the socket reads 12.9 or over for voltage, then it is the coach battery. If is 12.7 or less, it is probably the chassis battery. If the later, and you turn on the headlights with the voltmeter connected the voltage should dip, and rise back up when the headlights are turned off. If you have a house battery shut off switch, turning the house battery off would make the voltage shown at the socket drop to zero if it is connected to the house batteries. RonB 1 Likes
