Cab Cap to Cab Door Clearance
The passenger door had less than .25" clearance as well.
So wondering what the cap to cab door gap is on others LD?

Measured my 06 MB and it has about .5in at closest point between top corner of door when open and bottom of cab cap for both doors.

Fingers crossed this is normal as roof looks straight, no leaks I can detect, and no obvious sag.

And if there is a recommended min value prospective buyers should walk away from or have checked if current owner?

Mothership would have the answer but am interested in current state of others for comparison sake.

Have you looked on RV Trader? There is a 2001 30ft asking price $24,000. It does have 87,000 miles but appears to be in better shape then one you are looking at. Maybe they will come down to $20,000- it is in Bakersfield, CA.

I called the factory and Steve said there is no standard.

And I said: OK - thanks for taking my call.

So I'll go with the half inch clearance on mine is how it came from the factory.

Others may be more or less but as long it doesn't change I'm good  and no the sky is not falling or cab cap sagging in my LDs case - whew!

So if this is a future concern, a good practice for owners of new Lazy Daze's might be to take these measurements just after delivery, then to document them to form a basis?

LD has no consistent 'standard' clearance measurement for the distance between the bottom of the overcab and the top of the cab doors? Did Steve mention any amount of 'tolerance', or clearance variances among models, or might we figure that LD is just plopping the overcab on top of the truck cab and ballparking it?  :o

I suspect that there are calculated clearances in the design of the structure that allow everything to assemble as it should, and once the skin and edging are installed, the resulting exterior dimensions are whatever they end up to be. As long as there are no conflicts, there would be no reason to take a measurement like this. This would be similar to house construction.

IOW, built-in tolerances?  I hope these are closer (and I am pretty sure that they are!) than the black (or white for the interior!) caulk-filled gaps on the TT that a family member just bought; small gap>half a cartridge of goop. Big gap>whole cartridge of goop. Really big gap>more caulk and the brand name slapped over it!  ::)
