Suggestions for a new buyer November 21, 2017, 11:44:36 pm When we ordered our 2015 27 MB we were able to order a few options which have really been helpful. One was having 110v outlet on the forward end of the cabinet over the dinette. We use this for plugging in our various charges without having cords dangling down. The second was the table in the aft cabin between the couches. We can seat 4 there easily and it folds up at night when we make up out bunk. The one item we did not think of, was to have overhead reading lights installed overhead at the forward end of each couch. We read a lot in the evenings and it would be nice to sit on the couch, leaning back against the bulkhead and have a good reading light. One of my upcoming projects is to make this happen."Silver Fox", SeattleIan
Re: Suggestions for a new buyer Reply #1 – November 22, 2017, 12:23:55 am RK owner here so take this FWIW but should work for MB owners. We had them add a 12v receptical to the fore end of the cabinet over the passenger side couch right by the head of the overcab bed. We haven’t ended up using the overcab for sleeping like we thought but we stick a USB multi-plug in there and REALLY charge up all our devices whether with shore power or not.I remember Vince standing there and looking at it when I pointed out what I wanted, giving it a hard look and then with an approving head and shoulder movement like “yeah, that looks like a good spot for that” simply said, “okay, we can do that”. 😁The 12v under the dinette table is unwieldy to deal with and we wall off the cab with a blanket when parked to keep hot/cold air up there so this has proved to be super convenient.

Re: Suggestions for a new buyer Reply #3 – November 22, 2017, 07:26:54 am My 1988 MB came with a circulation fan over the right twin bed. I added a circulation fan over the left Twin bed. I would like a 12 volt outlet in the left and right of the overhead bunk for charging Cell phones. I have storage ionthe right end of the bunk. when the power users are sleeping there.I also added a 12 volt outlet above the Dinette using the light circuit. My 1988 MB also has a table for the rear twin beds.
Re: Suggestions for a new buyer Reply #4 – November 22, 2017, 01:15:14 pm Something else, and this was brought around because of the Kidde fire extinguisher recall. Our MB has, just inside the door and to the left a recessed pocket for the extinguisher which is just large enough for the Kidde extinguisher is a cheap, inferior product. I wanted to replace the Kidde unit with an Amerex unit, which has metal valve and is a much better unit, however the pocket is about 1/4inch too short. The pocket could be rebuilt without too much work as it extends into the empty space under the wardrobe, however I have enough projects right now. I bring this up because if you are talking wit Todd and placing an order bring it up and request a change. Such a change would not cost anything, and make a better unit, but Todd would most likely say, "no, Steve wouldn't like it ". However, nothing ventured, nothing gained."Silver Fox" Seattle Ian WalkerSent from Mail for Windows 10
Re: Suggestions for a new buyer Reply #5 – November 22, 2017, 07:35:52 pm I've been reading the posts on the noisy converter fan, and that's disappointing. In my current LD (2001) the fan rarely comes on. I doubt I could convince them to install something else. What does it cost to swap out the converter after the fact?
Re: Suggestions for a new buyer Reply #6 – November 22, 2017, 11:48:01 pm My wife and I just returned home from the LD factory today. I had noticed that the 2018 feature's listing calls for a 55 amp converter whereas the previous converter is a 75 amp unit. When I asked Todd about it he said that they heard about the fan issue and decided to go to a lower power unit that didn't require the fan to be on all the time. 2 Likes

Never expected it to happen. I would've been lot happier to see them switch to another brand of converter that has a temperature controlled cooling fan and keeps the higher amperage output. That would be an upgrade, switching to a smaller converter is a downgrade.Larry
