Front end bra/cover for 2007 MB
We're celebrating 10 years of awesome LD ownership this year - but it's time for a facelift. We keep Rubee in covered storage in Arizona, but the front end gets baked in the sun, and I've got fading to deal with. This week it's going in for a repaint.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a source for a bra/cover that will protect the front of a F-450 chassis. I've hunted around a bit, and the standard car cover/bra manufactures don't make one for the Ford 450.

Thanks everyone!

I sure hope you plan to post a before and after photo of the repaint!   I'd be interested in how much of the front end will be painted and will it be only the Oxford White?   We can tell that project is in our future but it's on the long-term To-Do List.

Good idea to do before/after photos. We have the maroon/red/white scheme on the front...so will see how it goes!

Front end covers or 'bras' can cause more damage than they prevent.
Dirt gets under the material and acts like sandpaper.
There is a good reason why you don't see them much anymore and can't find one.
Just keep the front end waxed and live with chips, as they occur.

Use a cover, when it is in storage, to prevent sun damage.

I agree with Larry.  My mustang had one when I bought it at 1 year old.  I removed it and found lots of scuffs and scratches on the paint underneath the bra.  Much more than what you'd expect on a 1 year old paint job.
There are a couple different options.  Diamondshield is one but can get scratched and very difficult to remove.  I've seen some people spray colored truck bed liner in different areas.  There may be newer products available now.  I just live with the inevitable chips and scratches and touch up if needed.

Spray-can PlastiDip could be an option.  Lots of people use it for 'temporary' paint jobs on cars, wheels, etc.  Peelable.  Not incredibly durable, but it's soft/cushioning, and easy to re-do.  Available at regular auto parts stores.

Just another few questions Paul.  Do you plan to paint the cab-over area and if so, will you keep the black faux windows or paint them white?  Secondly, if you paint the cab-over, will you replace the Lazy Daze decal?  Thanks in advance.
