New Generator suggestions?
I have a 1992 Lazy Daze that's been through who knows how many hands.

The generator runs... but only if I go outside to start it.  Also, it only stops if I go outside.  It 'tries' to do both things from the inside control panel (but never succeeds), so that's probably 'just' a bad contactor or something... but who knows how much I'd have to dismantle to get at it.

Anyway, when it runs, it stinks of unburned gas and burnt oil, and sounds like a 25 year old lawnmower.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a replacement that is reliable, quiet and efficient, and will definitely fit in the box that lazy daze set aside for it?  Also, a good shop around Southern California that could install it?

Your 1992 LD most likely has an Onan Emerald generator. When taken care of they will last 3000+ hours.
I suggest you have a Onan specialist take a look at it and see what is wrong. It might just need a tune up and a new muffler.
The only easy replacement would be another Emerald, the mounting tray is specific to the generator.
Emeralds are not sold anymore, so if your generator is bad, it will need to be rebuilt or a used one installed.
