Valance and accent reupholstered
Ok. So. Depending on how patient and sick to death of dingy Browns you might be.  You may want to attempt this change.

With the red 50 we got this drab brown theme. We decided on new fabric and started in. With Andy getting an Airstream. I had to look. nice and light.  The Serenity even has a Tommy Bahama edition. Well. Turns out so do we!!

It looks great and I kept all the staples just for fun. I might bet there is a cool five pines of staples to make on LD.

Nice job.  And you can tell that the people installing the staples are not the ones buying them.  And that they have an air-powered stapler.

Ours was 'pre-re-done' by the previous owner who was a great seamstress.  While we probably wouldn't have picked the fabric ourselves, it does look good and match the other decor well, so we're definitely not re-re-doing it.

Nice job! We just removed ours to increase the view/light. But if we were valance people this would be inspiring!

Nice, are your taking commissions?
While our 2003 valance are in good condition, they must be loaded with dust and dirt, the result of nearly 14 years of summertime power ventilation.
Only so much can be vacuumed out.
So, all you need is a lot of time and stapler, no sewing involved?

Sure hope you have an air conditioned shop to work in.

Thanks everybody. By the time we got the first one off we looked at the naked shade and said "oh boy. The cats gonna have even more fun!" So we continued replacing the valence.

The electric stapler did nothing but jam. The air one would be complicated and noise prohibitive in the heat, so we stayed manual. Two "power shot" staplers. Used a few 5/16" and a box and a half of 1/4".

Removing the staples was tedious but good screwdrivers, needle nose and a magnet made sure the staples stayed in line. We did spill that box of staples once. But since we used the magnet most of the time to clean the bench they mostly lumped in a pile on the floor!

Regarding sewing involved; it depends on how one chooses fabric and pattern presentation on the wood and how much fabric you will buy/waste. In our case we under estimated on first buy and decide to start with the longest valence. So we had to splice onto the width of the fabric to get the length we needed. The exact details of which I trusted to the boss (Hi Robin!) with the machine. The big valences in the living room had splices one on each end just as it turned the 90 degree portion so it looks great and the splice is not noticeable.

We had plenty of dust embedded in our fabric. But the foam under was very clean.

The hard parts were lining up the holes when puting them back. Took both of us to achieve. The headboard was blind nailed through the fabric so we literally pulled it off the wall. In tge bedroom ones the mounting was different then the others including blind screws from the bottom on sngle into the wall to keep them from pulling away from it. Also they mounted the blinds to these directly rather than the cabinets. So it was easier to take the blind off  entirely. Then re tension with bobbin screws later.

Actually a fun project that can really make an impact. !

Larry. Robin says sure to commission. But you remove staples!  We're pooped!
