Re: Transmission question -- hesitation getting into or mild "bucking" in reverse? April 28, 2017, 12:15:40 pm Thanks all for the feedback.I did end up going to a shop closer to the factory, and recommended by Vince.I ended up getting the transmission tested (it was shot -- turned out 3 qts low of transmission fluid, with no leaks, so that is a bit of a mystery). Decided to get it replaced (we have 94K miles on the rig). When all is said and done, it will be about $5K for a Ford rebuilt transmission. That was chosen over Jasper, because the Ford will have 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty, while Jasper would only have 18 mos. warranty (for a motorhome). They were also able to get the transmission delivered the next day.I was happy with the shop and the owner: Paul Brow at All-Car Specialist, 330 South Del Mar, San Gabriel, CA, 626-285-2205.While this was an expensive repair (as were our repairs at the LD factory), we also briefly considered buying a brand new LD, and this will come in around 10% of that cost, so maybe we should consider it a deal?? And we certainly did not want the transmission to fail out in the middle of nowhere (which is where we like to spend most of our time ;-)We have one more repair planned -- we figure with the mileage, we should have the spark plugs replaced, and since we are near a BlownOutSparkPlug.com location, we will try to get that done this weekend. None of our plugs have blown out, but the year of the rig (2000) makes that a risk, and I assume Dave surely knows what he is doing to minimize that chance going forward. And $450 for the cost all inclusive doesn't seem too bad. Certainly not a job I was prepared to tackle.S-
